Not All Bad News

Sure, Georgia fans have been hearing plenty of bad news about their team's off-field exploits, but here's some good news from the UGA Athletics Dept.:

A total of 53 Georgia Football earned GPAs of 3.0 or better including 16 with perfect 4.0s during the recently completed Summer Semester, producing a 3.02 GPA for the football program during that academic period.

"I'm extremely proud of how our players performed in the classroom over the summer," head coach Mark Richt said. "The fact that every scholarship player in our program was enrolled and we earned better than a 3.0 GPA as a team is a very significant achievement."

Additional interesting facts produced during Summer Semester include:
*42 scholarship players posted GPAs of 3.0 or higher;
*24 players earned spots on the Dean's List, achieved by posting a
3.50 GPA or higher on six or more hours with no grades below B;
*17 signees earned GPAs of 3.0 or better; and
*11 signees posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Players who produced a GPA of 3.0 or better are listed below, with asterisks indicating those who also were named to the Dean's List.

The players who posted 4.0s were: Cameron Allen* (Canton, Ga.), Brandon Boykin* (Fayetteville, Ga.), Trent Dittmer* (Cartersville, Ga.), Cordy Glenn (Riverdale, Ga.), A.J. Harmon (Louisville, Ga.), Andrew Johnson* (Athens, Ga.), James Lindley* (Savannah, Ga.), Jeremy Longo* (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Stuart Oglesby* (Atlanta, Ga.), Makiri Pugh* (Charlotte, N.C.), Bacarri Rambo (Donalsonville, Ga.), Bryce Ros* (Kennesaw, Ga.), Carlton Thomas (Frostproof, Fla.), DeAngelo Tyson* (Statesboro, Ga.), Cornelius Washington* (Hepzibah, Ga.) and Nick Williams (Bainbridge, Ga.).
