Bulldogs well-represented on coaches preseason All-SEC list

Aaron Murray is the SEC coaches’ preseason pick for first-team quarterback, and five more Georgia players make the first team:

- TE Orson Charles, OL Cordy Glenn, KR Brandon Boykin, K Blair Walsh and P Drew Butler.

Three more Bulldogs made the second teams:

C Ben Jones, DL DeAngelo Tyson and DB Brandon Boykin.

There was also a third team, but no Georgia players were on it.

Here’s the full list.

Georgia ranked behind only Alabama in the number of first-teamers. The Bulldogs are tied for third for the most overall, behind Arkansas (14) and Alabama (13). Georgia and South Carolina each have nine.

The media picks for the preseason all-SEC teams, and predictions on who will finish where, will be made and revealed next week in Hoover at media days.

A few quick thoughts on the coaches' list:

- Murray over Garcia at quarterback is predictable, but if not for Garcia's suspension, I'd guess they would have ended up flipped.

- Georgia has more special teams players on the first-team list than Tennessee has overall. (Thanks to Andrew Gribble of the Knoxville News-Sentinel for pointing that out.)

- DeAngelo Tyson as a second-teamer is a bit of a surprise. It'll be interesting to see if he blows up this season now that he's at his more natural position, end.

- Newcomers don't make the list. But note that other than Murray, perhaps Georgia's two most important players this year (Isaiah Crowell and John Jenkins) aren't on this list. Neither is Jarvis Jones. So if you look at it that way, the Bulldogs may have a pretty high ceiling, talent-wise, this season.
