Saturday Practice Notes

From UGA Athletics...

The Georgia football team practiced for approximately two hours on Saturday, one day before the Bulldogs likely will find out who their bowl opponent will be.

Georgia coach Mark Richt said since the Bulldogs don't know their foe yet, Saturday's practice was similar to the ones conducted in the spring.

"It was a very good day," Richt said. "It was highly spirited and competitive. I liked the way they worked. We don't know who we're playing yet, but if we keep practicing like that, we'll be all right for this game and down the road.

"We looked at it like spring ball. We concentrated on fundamentals and competing against each other. The guys got after it. It was a good day."

Richt was asked if he would be watching the SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Florida Saturday afternoon. With a smile, he said, "I don't know yet. I asked myself that question this morning, and I don't have the answer yet."

The Bulldogs will resume practice on Wednesday. Georgia is expected to practice in Athens until Dec. 20 and then will break for the Christmas holiday, reconvening at the bowl site.
