Ugly Loss in the Windy City

Georgia was thoroughly trounced by Illinois in Chicago today, 76-42.

Terrence Woodbury led the way for Georgia with 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting, but he got absolutely zero support.

Freshman phenom Trey Thompkins played 25 minutes -- close to his season high -- but scored just four points (on 2-of-10 shooting), although he did manage seven rebounds. The Bulldogs' starting backcourt of Corey Butler and Dustin Ware combined for just 1-of-6 shooting for 5 points and was held without an assist. The Dawgs had a total of just seven assists (led by Zac Swansey's four) compared to 23 by the Illini. The inability of Georgia's guards to create scoring opportunities continues to plague the Dawgs on offense.

Meanwhile, Georgia lost the turnover battle by a 27-14 margin -- including five turnovers by Thompkins.

Overall, it was simply an ugly performance for the Bulldogs, a disappointment following the loss to Western Kentucky when the team showed signs of maturity.
