Wednesday Practice Notes

Mark Richt wasn't available after practice today, and I've got a bunch of other things on my plate tonight. So... you get the stock press release from today's practice, courtesy of the UGA Athletics Dept. I'll have lot more tomorrow though...

Georgia’s football team practiced for two hours in shorts and shoulder pads on Wednesday during its third straight practice of the week.

The Bulldogs practice again Friday afternoon before scrimmaging for the last time this spring on Saturday morning. On Tuesday, head coach Mark Richt mentioned that he did not remember any of his teams practicing five times during the spring in one week since his arrival to Athens in 2001.

In addition to several recruits, the Bulldogs had their Teacher Appreciation day on Wednesday. Teachers and other UGA staff were welcomed to the Woodruff Practice Fields for practice and then dinner following practice.

Senior defensive tackle Geno Atkins is planning on taking Thursday, which is the football team’s only day off from practice, to compete for the Bulldogs during a dual track and field meet with Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Atkins has thrown the shot put for Georgia for the past three seasons.

Georgia plays its G-Day Game on April 11. This year’s G-Day Game will begin at 1:05 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN. In lieu of an admission fee, fans are encouraged to bring food donations to benefit the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Among the items most needed are soups, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, rice, pasta and pop-top canned goods.

Should we be worried that our RB talent/production is going to take a massive nose-dive this upcoming year?

I mean, I am sure they are all super-talented and Moreno is a 1st round pick but I get the feeling our RB's are just not ready

I think it's too early to tell. Obviously no one is going to replace Knowshon, but I think there's still a good chance that they get some good production from that position. Now, my guess at this point is that there isnt one guy who carries the load.
