Spring Scrimmage No. 2 Stats

Here's some stats and notes from the second scrimmage of the spring...

RUSHING
Carlton Thomas -- 16 carries, 93 yards
Kevin Lanier -- 12 carries, 45 yards
Aaron Murray -- 3 carries, 37 yards

*Washaun Ealey had five carries but was dealing with some minor knee soreness.
*Richt said first-team O line played well, but second-team had the QBs running a bit more, hence Murray's stats

PASSING
Aaron Murray -- 13-19-159 1 TD, 1 INT
Logan Gray -- 7-11-111, 1 TD
Zach Mettenberger -- 10-16-126 2 TDs, 1 INT

*Gray took the first few series with the No. 1 offense, then QBs rotated after that
* Murray's INT was courtesy of Vance Cuff in the back of the end zone on a beautiful play. The drive up til that point had been one of the best of the scrimmage.
* Mett's INT was in a one-minute drill that Richt called "essentially a hail Mary."
* QBs fumbled two snaps, which Richt was not pleased with

RECEIVING
AJ Green -- 6 catches, 80 yards
Kris Durham -- 4 catches, 74 yards, 3 TDs
Israel Troupe -- 4 catches, 45 yards, 1 TD

*Richt said Artie Lynch had at least one brilliant catch on a third-and-short that went for a long gain.

KICKING
Bogotay -- 53 yard field goal
Walsh -- 21 yard field goal

*Richt said both kickers worked before the scrimmage and booted every kick right down the middle.

DEFENSE
Demarcus Dobbs -- 6 tackles, 1 sack
Christian Robinson -- 6 tackles, 1 sack
Derrick Lott -- 5 tackles
Akeem Dent -- 5 tackles
Darryl Gamble -- 5 tackles
Brandon Boykin -- 5 tackles, 1 INT
Vance Cuff -- 1 INT

*Richt said defense used fewer blitzes, stunts, etc. today and worked more on base packages. A.J. Green seemed to think there was more than enough blitzing though, but the first-team O line looked "dominant."

*Aaron Murray said the defense definitely looked "more fluid" than they had earlier in the year, but most agreed the offense was the better unit Saturday.

INJURIES
Dontavius Jackson, Marlon Brown and Caleb King all missed the practice.

Richt said lineman Austin Long has been cleared to resume weight training after more than a year of being sidelined following back surgery.

Richt said he anticipates every player -- with the possible exception of incoming freshman Brent Benedict -- to be healthy for fall camp.

OTHER NOTES
Richt says he'll have a depth chart at QB after G-Day is complete.

Richt says Zach Mettenberger will definitely be suspended one game and possibly longer, clarifying earlier statements.

There was just one offensive penalty Saturday -- a receiver flinching before the snap. The defense had three flags, but "it's probably too many but to scrimmage as many downs as we did and only have four penalties was really pretty darn good," Richt said. Two of the D flags were offsides, one was a pass interference. Big change from Thursday in which the players had to do 200 yards of rolls as punishment for what Richt called a ridiculous number of flags.

Richt also adds, regarding the taxi cab incident, "I believe by Monday we'll have all the information needed. ... There's things I'd like to say about it, but I won't. I'll wait 'til Monday."

Other players may have accumulated stats, but this is all we were given by Richt.
