Georgia cornerback Vance Cuff was arrested Tuesday by the Athens Police Department on charges of driving on a suspended license and "emerging from an alley." He was released on $1,750 bond.
The incident occurred, according to a statement released by the school, when Cuff left the Butts-Mehre Building on his scooter. He made a left and drove down Rutherford Street, which is currently closed during construction. When he was stopped for driving down the closed road, it was discovered that his license was suspended.
Head coach Mark Richt said Cuff will serve a one-game suspension.
"He used poor judgment first in the route he took and also for being on the scooter at all with a suspended license," Richt said. "He will be suspended for the Vanderbilt game."

WE HAVE LOST INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL OF THE PROGRAM! RICHT SHOULD BE FIRED TODAY!!! FIRST WE HAVE PLAYERS EMERGING FROM ALLEYS, NEXT THING YOU KNOW WE'LL HAVE PLAYERS PLOTTING A COUP OF THE U.S. GOVERNMENT!!!
BUNCH OF THUGS!!!
Is a suspended license a requirement when you sign with UGA?
Somewhere in heaven Don Knotts is grinning today ... Wonder if single bullets are permitted there?
OutOfTouch-Thanks for the laugh! I knew this was coming with Cuff too. I had heard when he signed that he once hopped his neighbors hedges trying to shortcut to his girlfriends house. My understanding is he was caught by his Dad and said neighbor who were sitting on the porch chatting over a beer. Later as punishment had to sit out a Sunday episode of the Simpsons. Some people never learn!
Honestly though, I hate it for the kid. Live and learn. I have been out of work for going on 8 months. Sounds like we need a dang License Compliance Officer. Score!
Yes. Emerging from an alley....on a scooter...without a license.
It is a damn wonder he did not get shot.
We absolutely must find a way to keep scooters out of the hands of UGA football players.
Oooooh, emerging from an alley sounds so nefarious....next he'll be caught with a shoelace untied or worse, mis-matched socks!!! (GASP!!)
Gimme a break! Non-story.
The street that is closed is like 150 feet long and is adjacent to the forbidden alley. give me a break. I went down that strret today, God must have been with m becasue I never realized that I was in such a precarious location.
