From UGA Athletics:
University of Georgia redshirt sophomore tailback Knowshon Moreno has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office on Monday.
Moreno, a 5-11, 208-pound native of Belford, N.J., recorded a season-high 172 yards rushing and one touchdown on 23 carries during the Bulldogs 24-14 win over #22 Vanderbilt over the weekend. This was Moreno s 10th career game rushing for more than 100 yards.
Moreno, who averaged 7.5 yards per carry against Vanderbilt, also became the 13th player in school history to surpass 2,000 yards rushing in a career. He currently sits at the No. 10 spot with 2,096 yards. Moreno leads the SEC in scoring at 9.43 points per game.
The Bulldogs lead the league in both total offense (429.6 yards/game) and passing offense (260.1 yards/game). Through seven games, Georgia has been forced to start four different combinations on the line, including a lineup against the Commodores featuring two true freshmen, a redshirt freshman, a sophomore and a redshirt sophomore.
This was Moreno s second SEC Offensive Player of the Week award of the season after he garnered the honor following his performance against Central Michigan.
The No. 9 Bulldogs travel to Baton Rouge to face No. 11 LSU in Tiger Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EDT on CBS. All Georgia games are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on AM 750 WSB in Atlanta and on both 106.1 FM and 960 The Ref in Athens. The radio audio also can be heard worldwide on both georgiadogs.com, the official website of UGA Athletics, on XM satellite radio and on Westwood One Radio Sports.
