From UGA Athletics:
Georgia s Courtney McCool has been invited to participate during the Atlanta stop of the 2008 Tour Of Gymnastics Superstars.
The tour, which includes Olympians Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson, will be at Philips Arena on Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. for its 17th stop. McCool, the 2008 NCAA champion on floor exercise, will do an exhibition routine.
I am absolutely ecstatic to be given the opportunity to perform on the tour with the girls, McCool said. I cannot wait to see them. They are such an amazing group of girls and incredible athletes. We used to compete together and I am so honored to perform with them again.
McCool won a silver medal as a member of the 2004 Olympics team that competed in Greece. However, she was unable to participate in the 2004 tour due to wrist surgery.
When Mary Lee Tracey, the coach in charge of the talent and athletes on tour, contacted us and asked for an athlete who could perform floor, Courtney immediately came to mind, Georgia coach Suzanne Yoculan said. Not only is she the 2008 NCAA floor exercise champion, but more importantly she is a natural performer. This is a great opportunity for her. The entire Gym Dogs team is honored to have her represent the University of Georgia during the tour stop in Atlanta.
