Give UGA Liberty or give it ...

... Well, keep it at Liberty.

Georgia has scheduled a teleconference for 5:30 p.m. to discuss its bowl invitation. At that time it will announce that it has officially accepted a bid to the Liberty Bowl, to face Central Florida.

This has been pretty much a foregone conclusion for the past week. Even the craziness of the last 24 hours with SEC bowl tie-ins didn't impact it, as the Liberty still had a choice between Georgia and Kentucky, the same choice it had before the dominoes started falling differently.

Central Florida (10-3) entered the rankings at No. 24 in Sunday's coaches poll. It's coached by former Georgia Tech head coach George O'Leary.

The game is Dec. 31 at 3:30 p.m. in Memphis.

A few more factoids:

- Georgia last played in the Liberty Bowl in 1987, when it beat Arkansas, then a member of the Southwest Conference. The Bulldogs were also in the Liberty in 1967, when it lost to N.C. State.

- Officially it's called the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. But as with all sponsorships that aren't the solitary name, we'll only be calling it the Liberty Bowl. (Exceptions: Outback Bowl, Capitol One Bowl, etc.)

- It's all about the ground game for Central Florida, which ranks 25th in the nation in rushing offense, and 10th in rushing defense. UCF is stingy in general on defense, ranking 12th in the nation in scoring defense.

- UCF quarterback Jeffery Godfrey is a dual-threat. He has rushed for 546 yards and 10 touchdowns this year, while passing for 2,042 yards and 13 touchdowns.

- UCF went 0-2 against BCS conference teams in the regular season, falling at home to N.C. State (28-21) and at Kansas State (17-13).

- This won't be the Golden Knights' first game in Memphis this year. In their regular season finale, they won at Memphis, 37-17.

It's easy for Dawg fans to be tempted to look down on UCF, but I live in Orlando. There is alot of excitement around the UCF program right now, and they're playing with alot of energy and confidence. Godfrey is kinda like FSU's EJ Manuel or UM's Jacory Harris, he can scramble. UGA needs to take them seriously or it could end up like Colorado part 2.
