Logan Gray will not return to the Georgia football team, the receiver announced through UGA on Tuesday.
Gray, who switched from quarterback during last year’s spring practice, has elected to graduate in May and then playing somewhere else. The NCAA allows players who have graduated to play without sitting a year.
“I plan on playing my last year of football while pursuing my Master’s degree at another school, most likely close to home, where my family can attend all of games,” said Gray, a native of Columbia, Mo.
Gray went on to thank head coach Mark Richt and his teammates.
Gray had nine catches for 105 yards and one touchdown catch in 2010. He also returned punts.
He was a reserve quarterback for the Bulldogs in 2008 and 2009. He switched to receiver last year at his request.
Gray becomes the third player to announce his transfer, joining linebacker Marcus Dowtin and safety Nick Williams. Guard Tanner Strickland also decided to pass on his senior year after graduating in December.
As for Georgia, it also lost receiver A.J. Green to the NFL draft, which it expected. It still has plenty of depth at the position, led by Tavarres King and Marlon Brown, and is adding several freshmen. Highly-touted recruit Malcolm Mitchell can play receiver or defensive back. Receiver Chris Conley is already enrolled and will go through spring practice with the team.
The news also means that Georgia can more easily absorb new players and still meet the NCAA limit of 85 scholarships.

Oh, no! Who ever will wave for fair catches next season?
Logan Gray deserves respect. A highly touted guy who never whined or complained and would do whatever he needed to make the team better. Good luck to you Logan. You earn the title DGD no matter where you play next year.
Logan Gray is a class act and a guy like him will be missed at this program! Good luck, Logan! Screw you, Anonymous!
