Houts Earns SEC Honors

From UGA Athletics...

Georgia's Ashley Houts was named SEC Player of the Week on Monday by the league office in Birmingham, Ala., after averaging 20.0 points in Lady Bulldog wins at Kentucky and over No. 17 Florida last week.

Houts, a junior from Trenton, Ga., played all 40 minutes in both games while connecting on 52.0 percent of her field goals and 83.3 percent of her free throws.

Houts poured in a career-high 26 points at Lexington and scored 12 of Georgia's final 13 points in the 61-57 victory. She converted 7-of-8 free throw attempts in the final 61 seconds.

Houts scored 14 points in the Lady Bulldogs' 84-75 upset of the Gators in the regular-season finale.

Georgia will open play in the SEC Tournament on Thursday. The seventh-seeded Lady Bulldogs will take on 10th-seeded Kentucky at 3:30 p.m. ET at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Ark.

A great honor for Houts who plays every minute in almost every game. A good story idea: talk to Landers about the last time he had a full roster to play with!
