For the second straight week, Aaron Murray is the SEC freshman of the week.
The Georgia quarterback was so honored Monday morning, two days after passing for 287 yards and two touchdowns, rushing for 36, and once again being responsible for absolutely no turnovers.
On the season, Murray has thrown for 1,653 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions, with no fumbles lost. He's also completing 61.9 percent of his passes.
Which leads me to two thoughts:
1) Marcus Lattimore still has to be the leader for SEC freshman of the year. But if the South Carolina running back has to miss any more time with a sprained ankle, or his production just dwindles, Murray could make a run for the award.
2) Obviously Mike Bobo has received a lot of heat from fans and others for his play-calling. But Murray has exceeded expectations as a rookie, and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Bobo also the quarterbacks coach?
Just sayin'.

Murray honored again, which means ...

Totally fair to note Bobo's success as a QB coach (which goes back several years).
And yes, his playcalling has looked better against crap defenses. If the offense looks good on the road in Lexington and Jax, I'll be more impressed.
And don't give me "he looks better with AJ back". There are 119 offensive coordinators in the country who don't have AJ Green, and some of them manage to not call play-action passes on 3rd and goal from the 8 yard line with 30 seconds left in the half, and the clock running.
Having a healthy AJ and Kris Durham back tends to help any coordinator. Aron White is playing very well at TE. Looks like we've got the right mix on the offensive line. Murray's learning curve is accelerating and I don't believe we've completely revealed everything in the playbook, either.
I can't say enough about Murray. My favorite play he made on Saturday was a pass he threw away in the endzone. That's maturity.
Has this become a Cosmo ...ad blog.
You know why I ask!

Josh--and no time-outs. Don't forget that little nugget on that call.
Beyond Murray's play this season, what really amazes me is that our coaching staff failed to notice this talent early on. Why the long wait to take the reigns off? That a ton CMR and CMB!
