Saturday morning marked the first set of two-a-days and the first practice in full pads with tackling.
On a bright note, Knowshon Moreno said his shoulder is feeling fine and said the soreness relates to an injury he suffered in high school. So that sounds like good news for the Dawgs.
It was one of Moreno's backups, Richard Samuel, that quarterback Matt Stafford said was the most impressive from the first full-pads practice.
"Richard Samuel runs the ball really hard which is good, and he made some good runs today," Stafford said.
By and large, the players seemed excited to get back to some real football.
"Putting the pads on is like turning on a switch," tight end Tripp Chandler said. "It's time to step it up."
All-SEC linebacker Dannell Ellerbe might have been the exception this morning. He said he didn't get to do too much during practice, but hinted he may have just been taking it easy on his teammates for now.
"I really didn't get too many good hits in today," Ellerbe said. "I'll let 'em get warmed up."
