Thursday Links (8/21)

If you haven't noticed already, the Telegraph has a new Web site. Check out the all new Macon.com and tell us what you think.

Along with those changes, at some point in the next week or two, this blog will be moving as well. I'll keep you updated, but it should (ideally) be a smooth transition from the Blogger-hosted site we're on now, to an internally-hosted site within Macon.com.

Other links o' the day...

-- The Red & Black have stories on what happened to highly ranked teams the past few years and linebacker Akeem Dent's penchant for bowling.

-- ESPN's Chris Low says Stacy Searles may be the most important figure on the Bulldogs this season.

-- Dawg Sports has Georgia at No. 1 in the preseason blog poll.

-- Bleacher Report has a season preview for Louisiana Tech, which is coached by the son of Vince Dooley and quarterbacked by former Reggie Ball backup Taylor Bennett.

-- The AJC's Jenna Marina writes about the ridiculous number of injuries to Georgia's defensive ends, while Tony Barnhart wonders how the new clock rules will affect college football.

-- No introduction needed, just a great, great post from Dawg Sports.

-- In a follow-up from yesterday's links, Georgia universities have rejected the plan to lower the drinking age, thus keeping the fake ID business thriving.

-- And finally, sad to see NFL players union head and hall-of-famer Gene Upshaw died. This has been a crazy week with Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes and LeRoi Moore all dying, too. Thankfully, Morgan Freeman is recovering nicely.
